Government Assistance

While applications for refugee protection are being considered in Canada claimants have access to

  • Health Services
    under the Interim Federal Health Program
  • Education
    applicants can apply for student authorisation which allows them to study. Children can attend local schools
  • Jobs
    If asylum seekers are reliant on welfare they can be authorised to work.

Access to these services are assured under the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
